Week 25 / Little Olive Update

25 weeks seems like a very long time, but it hasn't felt that way in terms of growing a bubba. I guess that's because there's always so much to learn and do that it occupies your time. In saying that, I guess it isn't long until the third trimester (which I believe starts at 28 weeks), and I know many women start to feel well and truly over pregnancy in that time.

I love my belly a lot, but it is kind of funny when I'm walking around Sydney on a beautiful day. There are all these beach babes walking around (the calibre of good-looking people here is something else, ha!) who don't have to worry about getting out of breath, or being kicked on the inside, or if their belly button is about to turn from an innie into an outie! Quite a contrast. Speaking of contrasts, I found this neat animation that shows just how the body adjusts when you're growing a human – it's so interesting, take a peep!

_________

How far along?
25 weeks. Nearly half a year! Doesn't feel that long.

Symptoms
My back is still giving me a bit of grief, but I'm trying to sit properly and watch my posture. You might have noticed from my images that it's difficult standing up straight (also I'm standing on our bed, which doesn't help). My pelvis has always been a bit tilted forward but it's really tilted now, so I have to be careful of my back. Ben's been helping to remind me – there's a sticky note on the computer reminding me to sit straight!

Maternity clothes
Pretty much living in my gym gear and K-Mart singlets this week. Comfy and cool!

Stretch marks
No.

Sleep
My dreams have been on acid this week – literally! last night I dreamt I was at some club, and everyone was doing drugs which was freaking me out as I didn't want anyone banging into my bump or hurting me. Then my friend was there, about to smoke P, and I scolded her saying 'what the hell are you doing, don't use that rubbish you'll go crazy!' But then she got a teaspoon of this other powder called 'K', snorted it, and then said she'd drive me home. I was like 'heck no'. By now she looked like someone from Mad Max with a shaved head etc. She said she'd just pull out of the driveway for me but started driving anyway, I was so scared. But then we got further out and everyone from the club was out doing yoga in the middle of the night.

Can I just say that I don't use drugs or condone them in any way? What the heck!

Best moment this week
I've been working on some fun projects this week for work, which is always cool, plus I finished my Christmas shopping! I've also got birthday presents for everyone up to about June next year (yes I am crazy!). I'm going to leave them all in NZ at Christmas. It's just one more thing that I won't need to think about when I'm tending to baby. I'm so excited to have a Christmas wrapping session with my mama!

Worst moment this week
Yesterday I started mourning that our 'bubble' (Ben and I) was about to change forever. I just adore him so much, as cringe as that might sound, and I love our relationship – we're a real team. It'll be a good base for the changes and challenges to come, but at the same time I'm going to miss just hanging out with my favourite guy without the responsibility of kids. In saying that, we have had 10 whopping years of our 'bubble', so it's about time we shared with a lovely little bubba. It just means that I'm going to savour these last months of bing able to sleep in when we want, take our time cooking together, and going with the flow.

Movement
Bub is moving around as I type right now! Getting stronger. Also starting to feel a bit uncomfortable when it moves sometimes – whether it's kicking directly towards or just getting in a funny position. This morning I woke up and could feel this 'hard bit' above my belly button, which moved out of the way when I started investigating it. So bizarre! Still love it all though.

Food cravings
Fresh baking! I was going to make some scones but our oven decided to putt out, and I'm still waiting for the technician to come and fix it.

Anything making you feel sick or queasy?
Not anymore.

Gender
It's a surprise!

Belly button in or out?
Innie, but oh my goodness it looks weeeird. Getting flatter and more stretched looking.

Happy or moody?
Pretty happy!

Looking forward to...
Meeting a new friend for a dog walk on Friday, and going to the Etsy markets with two lovely ladies on Saturday.

This week's tune:
Some of my fam are going to be departing for a Hawaiian holiday soon, so I've had Hawaiian Air by Friendly Fires stuck in my head.
