Week 24 / Little Olive Update

Kia ora – another week done and dusted!

_________

How far along?
24 weeks.

Symptoms
A bit of ligament pain around the ol' ute (uterus, haha!) when I jump up or move too quickly. I hate having to be more gentle sometimes, it makes me feel like a frail old woman. Earlier in the week I was trying to help a young woman catch her dog, and she asked me not to run around as I had a bump to look after! Also, sore lower back. It makes me feel like a real pregnant person when I'm rubbing the pain there.

Maternity clothes
K-mart rocks my socks. I got a few tank tops which were about $6 each – they're nice and long too. Not expecting them to last forever of course, but they're perfect for now. In the same shop I grabbed a stretchy tube skirt which fits nicely over the bump. Also picked up a nursing tank and another maternity dress ($15 by the way). Phew, glad to have some more outfits for this hot weather. Some maternity shorts would complete my wardrobe.

Stretch marks
No.

Sleep
This question is turning into a dream diary, but I can't recall any of my whacky dreams this time – I only remember that I did have some! Sleep is pretty broken, but still waking up refreshed.

Best moment this week
The weather is amazing this week, which always puts me in a great mood. I had a lovely yarn on the phone to both my dad and my mama, who I miss so much! Last night Ben and I had one of our first prenatal classes, which was all about looking after your body as it changes. The coordinator is a physio – she gave me some good pointers on trying to help my posture.

Also, strangers are starting to comment on my bump more. As I mentioned, there was the woman at the park who asked me not to run after her dog due to the bump, but I was in a shop the other day when a woman asked if I'd like to try their Christmas tea. I politely declined (it's 30 degrees outside and the last thing I want is hot tea, sheesh!) to which she replied "don't worry, it has no caffeine in it." These moments make me smile as it reminds me that the bump is more than just something that Ben and I fuss over.

Worst moment this week
I've started having these phases that I call 'toddler moments' (ha!). It's not that bad, but sometimes after I've been walking for a while, or I start getting hungry, I just get a bit fed up and I want to drop my bags and sit down right now!

Movement
Baby still reckons kung-fu practise starts at around 10pm. Some days are quieter than others. Last night Ben and I were on a bus and bub was going mad – you could clearly see it through the fabric of my dress.

Food cravings
None this week.

Anything making you feel sick or queasy?
No, feeling good!

Gender
It's a surprise!

Belly button in or out?
Innie.

Happy or moody?
Happy, despite some 'toddler moments'.

Looking forward to...
Meeting a new friend for a dog walk next week. She's got a beautiful boy of her own, and has been so generous with all of her advice.

This week's tune:
To match my happy mood, here's a song that puts a spring in my step whenever I listen to it – Rox by The Aliens.
