Week 23 / Little Olive Update
Hello! We're at week 23 – baby is about 30cm long (but curled up, of course!) and weighs about 500g (about 1lb). Apparently baby (and I!) are going to have a massive growth spurt coming up, as baby doubles in weight over the next month. Feeling and seeing lots of movement this week, which I never get tired of. I had a pregnancy workout with a trainer on Monday down at the park, which was awesome! I now know some exercises that are ok to do. It's now Wednesday and my legs are still aching – not sure how yoga is going to go this evening!
Apart from the usual updates, I'm just feeling really grateful and humble about this whole creating life thing. Even though I only have 2% of the baby things I'll need yet, and though I'm loving being pregnant and having my bump, I'm starting to get so excited about meeting our little one.
_________
How far along?
23 weeks.
Symptoms
Just a few symptoms this week. Like last week, my tailbone gets sore from time to time. My feet also get a bit sore sometimes – they ache as though I'm walking on cold tiles or snow. But I don't mind. :)
Maternity clothes
Just the usual! Maternity jeans, dresses and regular clothes that work. I feel like I need to buy a few new tops as I don't want to stretch too many of my regular ones.
Stretch marks
No.
Sleep
Again, those dreams! I dreamt that I lived in the Middle East and there was a faction that was set to wipe out any non-arab people living in the town, including me. I remember wondering what to do, where to go, if I could wear some kind of disguise (hehe). That's what happens when you read news articles before bed.
Best moment this week
Ben and I haven't had a weekend to ourselves in a while because of my NZ trip, then his work trip, then guests coming to stay, and then another work trip for Ben. So it's the first time in over a month that we got to just hang out and explore. H&M has opened on Pitt St (really affordable gear, we got Ben some gym things) so we checked that out, we explored a new park by the water called Barangaroo, and we went and had coffee at the cafe we visited when we came to Sydney last December. That December trip was our way of scoping out the place and seeing if we wanted to move here. Going back there was pretty nostalgic! A lot has changed since then.
Another best moment was talking to Lucinda on the phone – her new girl Olive is just 3 weeks old! We had a good old yarn and she gave me some good tips and advice on things that she's found useful so far.
Worst moment this week
Hard to think of one actually!
Movement
Still loving it. I feel like the movements are changing from being just random thumps to more squirms and wriggles too.
Food cravings
None really, but we've been getting mangos from the supermarket (such a treat!) and making mango milkshakes – holy crap they are good.
Anything making you feel sick or queasy?
No, feeling good!
Gender
It's a surprise!
Belly button in or out?
Innie.
Happy or moody?
A happy week, which is nice after last week's moody nonsense!
Looking forward to...
Finishing my Christmas shopping. I just have a couple of presents to go from my list of about 20!
This week's tune:
New Fat Freddy's tunes are out! We've been listening to their new album Bays, which is so good. I've been loving the song Makkan, but it's too new to find online anywhere to show you. So you'll just have to take my word for it. Or maybe listen to this cover of Here Comes The Sun by Yuna.
