Week 30 / Little Olive Update

A bit of a late post, but we didn't forget to take the 30 week photo in New Zealand. What a trip! We had such a great time seeing everyone and enjoying a few last holiday activities before bub comes. As a result we squeezed a lot in, but I'm so glad we did – it might be a while before we can ever have a chocca-block trip like that again.

How far along?
30 weeks. Oh my goodness, just 10 weeks until we meet our little one! It may seem like a long time, but compared to 9 months of pregnancy, and the time waiting since we gave 'having babies' the green light, it's really no time at all.

Symptoms
Leg cramps mainly! I had them every night since my last post, but I'm on to the magnesium tablets now and it seems to be helping a lot.

Maternity clothes
Hurray! I was gifted some new maternity wear from my dear mama. Including maternity underwear, which have pretty much changed my life.

Stretch marks
None.

Sleep
Both Ben and I were sleeping like logs as we were doing a lot in the day. I even managed to sneak in a couple of naps this week!

Best moment this week
Where to start? Our whole New Zealand trip was so much fun. As always, Christmas was a banger. The baby shower we had at my mum's house was so good, we have a lot of lovely ladies in our fam. The brunch was delicious, and mum and I had fun getting it all looking lovely. And we received so many beautiful baby gifts – utterly spoiled! Just being able to have time to spend with our family and friends throughout the week was great, from playing cards, to NYE bashes, to cafe catch-ups, to drives around Auckland.

Worst moment this week
There wasn't a bad moment. Perhaps just trying to juggle everything in, but it was all fun stuff. It was a little funny landing back in Sydney last night; after seeing all of our favourite faces last week, there was a reminder that there's no one to pick us up from the airport here, and that it really is Ben and I just doing our thing. But that's also quite exciting, too. We'll be back in our Sydney groove in no time.

Movement
Bub has definitely gotten stronger over the week, and bigger – I can feel bubs feet nearly around my my side sometimes. This means that bub is still on the diagonal, or sometimes lying horizontally across. I hope they start deciding to assume the position soon! Almost everyone we saw got to feel baby move. I also had a couple of unsolicited baby-bump touches while at a Fat Freddy's Drop concert, but nothing too weird or disconcerting! In fact most people were really sweet and accommodating. There was a lovely man that even offered some spare ear plugs.

Food cravings
I think I satisfied pretty much every food craving I could possibly have had while away in NZ – so much delicious food!

Anything making you feel sick or queasy?
I sometimes get a little nauseated on the odd day, but it's nothing inhibiting.

Gender
No idea. Mum had a dream that it was a girl (and a big one at that – eep!).

Belly button in or out?
Still hanging in there.

Happy or moody?
Feeling good!

Looking forward to...
Getting more baby ready now that we're back in Sydney. We have a midwife appointment tomorrow, our first birth and parenting class is on Tuesday night, and I'm back at yoga on Wednesday evening.

This week's tune:
Hmmm, maybe Brandy Alexander by Feist. Just a happy, chilled tune that Ben and I love. I feel like it kind of reflects life for us right now – cheerful, content simplicity. :)
