Why hello there! We're at 33 weeks and feeling fine. Look at that puku, it's really getting into the pregnancy swing now. I've had a few strangers tell me that I don't have long to go now (well, still 7 weeks to go mate, but thanks for your input!). We're one week away from my final scan, which will give us insight into whether we need to get baby out via the sunroof or not. Feeling a bit nervous about that, but there's not much I can do right now except stay hopeful! So stay tuned for next week's post!
How far along?
33 weeks.
Symptoms
Pelvis pain as per last week, heartburn, stuffy nose (yes, this is a pregnancy symptom!)
Maternity clothes
Just the usual!
Stretch marks
I think I might have a couple of little, light purple ones now, but can't tell if they're just veins or not.
Sleep
A bit broken but that's ok. Sometimes, for no reason, I'll wake up at around 2am and I'm awake – getting up and coming back to bed usually helps with this. Grabbing a glass of water, and patting the dog for a moment, usually does the trick.
Best moment this week
Rhi and I ventured to IKEA on the weekend, it was the first time she's ever been. We both had successful trips! I grabbed some baby guff – a changing mat for home (but Ben and I chopped off the inflatable side flaps as it was a bit massive), a sleeping bag (a quarter the price of others I've seen) and a couple of gifts for expecting Kiwi friends.
Worst moment this week
I think I got the meltdowns out of my system last week, haha. Last night's childbirth/parenting session was a bit grim – we were shown all the instruments used if medical intervention is necessary. I'm really glad I'm starting my birth in the Birth Centre, away from all of those things! That doesn't mean they won't have to be used (in which case I'm wheeled over to the RPA's main delivery unit), but knowing they're not in the room makes a difference somehow. We also watched a video on a Caesarean section birth, which made me teary – not because of the intervention, but because that's what little babies make me do these days! Thanks hormones. Also, there's still the chance I might have to do that myself, which is unnerving. But we find out about that soon!
Movement
Still head down, curling around my left side. We are starting to see some crazy limb action lurking under there. Here is a video – excuse the bare belly! It kind of reminds me of lightning flashes sometimes.
Food cravings
Nothing much. Heartburn kills my appetite sometimes, so trying to have early dinners.
Anything making you feel sick or queasy?
Not this week.
Gender
No idea, but Ben is always asking my tummy what it might be.
Belly button in or out?
Still hanging in there, pretty stretched!
Happy or moody?
Happy and sleepy.
Looking forward to...
All of my social activities this week. Yoga, a potential picnic at the end of the week, and another catch up with the Sydney preggo team. We're going to a spot called San Churro. Also, finding out next Wednesday morning how the placenta is sitting, and whether it's still blocking bubs's exit or not. If it is, then I'll be scheduled for a Caesarean birth, but at least I'll have a few weeks to prepare myself for that. It will also mean bub comes a little earlier than the due date (aww, it makes me feel so bad for baby, being taken from its' day-spa before it's fully ready). If not, then I'll be over the moon!
This week's tune:
I'm going to go with Lana Del Ray's Cruel World, just because I enjoyed it when it came on this week.
Aaaaand below are just a few snaps from the week – doing the first pre-wash of all the baby gear, me belly, and a disturbing scene from our childbirth/parenting session last week, haha! Lots of babies and pelvis's (we were learning about how they move through the pelvis and the stages of labour).
