Week 20 / Little Olive Update

Ok, we are now half way toward our estimated due date! Good grief! I'm going to be doing a lot of expanding in the next few months. This week has had its ups and downs, but I'm entering my 20th week on a good note. Can you believe that baby is now 25cm from head to heel? Cause I can't. Still so grateful for this wee bubba, and really enjoying pregnancy for the most part!

I feel like my posture is changing as bub grows, so I've got to remember to put my shoulders back, stand up straight. My waist has almost disappeared, and when I sit down I get a 'roll' under my chest (instead of my tummy) which feels bizarre. All these funny little things are a constant reminder of what's happening in there.

Check out how much growth has happened since week 15!

_________

How far along?
20 whole weeks.

Symptoms
Sometimes my tummy feels 'tired' if I've been walking around a lot. Some slight ligament pain, which is fair enough – there's a lot of things moving and stretching in there!

Maternity clothes
Nothing new, though there's no hiding this bump now – so I'm trying to wear flattering pieces from my usual wardrobe.

Stretch marks
No.

Sleep
Still uncomfortable most nights, although last night I had a cracker sleep. I've started sleeping with a pillow under my tummy and between my legs to help, but it gets hot!

Best moment this week
Ben got to feel bub move for the first time, just last night! So exciting as I've been trying to time it right for a while. I was lying on my side with our dog Juno, and bub was quite energetic. I was thinking, gosh, Juno must be feeling this. Then I felt a real whack, so I grabbed Ben's hand and said 'quick, tonight's the night!'. And it was! Ben put his head lightly on my tummy instead, and bub biffed him one right in the cheek. Was such a cool experience.

Worst moment this week
Milestone! Last night was also when I had my first irrational, hormonally imbalanced, pregnancy induced melt down. At 8pm I was supposed to still be out at an event, but there I was at home with a whopping bowl of pasta. It was all too hot, I was too tired, there was no where to sit, it was loud, my tummy felt sore and I WANTED TO GO HOME, TAKE OFF THOSE CLOTHES AND EAT MY TORTELLINI DAMMIT

Movement
Stronger movements this week, and Ben got to feel some as I mentioned above!

Food cravings
None.

Anything making you feel sick or queasy?
Still not loving the thought of that restaurant Ippudo.

Gender
It's a surprise!

Belly button in or out?
Innie, but it's starting to look weeiird. Just more round rather than oval.

Happy or moody?
Been a bit of both, but I've started the 20th week on a good note.

Looking forward to...
Andy and Caroline, my brother and sister-in-law, who are coming for the weekend. I miss these two people SO much, they're just two generally rad humans. Caro and I are going to a baby show high-tea lunch on Sunday which I'm looking forward to.

This week's tune:
I may have already posted this tune, but I've been thrashing it! A beauty by Midlake called The Old and the Young – click to listen.
